This service request form is available to all cyclists or anyone wishing to report a roadway condition affecting cyclists in Montgomery County.The Division of Transportation Engineering(DTE)will forward your request to the Division of Highway Services who manages maintenance responsibilities for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation(MCDOT).

Montgomery County Bikeways Map Viewer Now On-line!!

The Montgomery County Bikeways Map Viewer is now on-line! The map viewer enables you to locate, to measure, and to print letter-size maps of bikeways and bike trails within Montgomery County, Maryland.Use the map viewer navigation tools to zoom in to the aerial photography or back out to an overview map.We are also working with WABA to establish a new online bicycle route map - Coming Soon!

Montgomery County Bicycle Action Group

Sponsored by the Montgomery County MCDOT Bikeway Program

The Montgomery County Bicycle Action Group (MCBAG) was created by the MCDOT in 1996 in order to gain input from citizens interested in recreational and on-road cycling issues. MCBAG is a group of citizens interested in recreational and on-road bicycling issues who gives advice to the Department on current issues, programs and projects relating to cycling in Montgomery County. The MCBAG meets monthly to discuss and recommend positions on various issues on bicycling on a regional and local basis. MCBAG has approximately 100 members who are contacted by an e-mail mailing list. Monthly meetings are held to discuss issues of impact and importance to on and off-road cycling in Montgomery County, Maryland. The e-mail list recipients also receive announcements of meetings and events of interest to cyclists. Anyone is welcome to attend.

MCBAG meetings are usually held the 3rd Thursday of every month.

MCBAG Goals

No Net Loss of Roadway space/shoulders
To utilize the AASHTO Design Guidelines of 1999
To accomplish Bike safety by implementing the following:

Car driver education and awareness
Road designer education
Bike rider education
Good trail design. Trails designed for bike use such as the Capital Crescent Trail
Good trail maintenance such as the Capital Crescent Trail
Trails that enable people to go places they want to go such as the Capital Crescent Trail

To encourage exercise for the health and well-being of the citizens of Montgomery County.
