Leggett, Council President Join County Departments to Urge Public to Protect Against Mosquitoes As Summer Approaches

For Immediate Release: Thursday, April 28, 2016

Friday, April 29; 11 a.m.

13302 Okinawa Avenue

Rockville, MD

County Executive Isiah Leggett will be joined by County Council President Nancy Floreen, Health Officer Dr. Ulder J. Tillman, Department of Environmental Protection Director Lisa Feldt and representatives of the County’s Zika Work Group to speak about the threat from mosquitoes, what the County is and will be doing and what residents can do to protect themselves and their families.

A new website will be part of a broader public education campaign that will include Ride On bus ads, a social media campaign and printed materials.

As summer approaches local, regional and state leaders will be urging everyone to protect against mosquito bites and to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites. In addition to the Zika virus, which is not currently found locally, mosquitoes can carry the West Nile Virus.

The location is in the Twinbrook residential neighborhood.
