Montgomery County officials will be on hand as more than 50 community volunteers are recognized for providing more than 11,000 hours of service to victims of violent crime, sexual assault and domestic violence.
Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) Behavioral Health and Crisis Services’ Chief Dr. Raymond Crowel will be joined by Montgomery County Police Department’s Detective Michael Putman, and managers and staff from DHHS’ Abused Persons Program and Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the County’s Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program.
Volunteers provide assistance to victims 24 hours daily, 365 days per year at court appearances and for forensic evaluations at hospitals. In addition, volunteers provide assistance with outreach and education events and telephone helpline coverage.
