For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Wednesday, May 17, 11:30 a.m.

Multi-Agency Service Park

8301 Turkey Thicket Drive, Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will be joined by Montgomery County Board of Education President Michael A. Durso, Chair of the Montgomery County Parks and Planning Board Casey Anderson, Montgomery Parks Director Michael F. Riley and Director of the Montgomery County Department of General Services David E. Dise for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Central Maintenance Depot and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Green Farm Maintenance Facility.

The new MCPS Central Maintenance Depot provides essential maintenance services to 204 schools and other school system support facilities. The Green Farm Maintenance Facility will serve the needs of 418 County parks and a wide-range of related Montgomery Parks, M-NCPPC facilities including athletic fields and courts, campsites, historic structures, playgrounds and trails.

This is another of Leggett’s Smart Growth Initiative projects that have revitalized an old industrial area by relocating outdated facilities in need of multiple capital improvements, from an area near the Shady Grove Metro Station. The relocation to the Multi-Agency Service Park in Gaithersburg has allowed the opportunity to create more transit-oriented development near the Metro station per the Shady Grove Sector Plan.

Limited parking is available on Turkey Thicket Drive and in the parking garage attached to the main building. Overflow parking will be directed to the Green Farm field area with shuttle bus service to and from the main building.
