Montgomery County Executive, Marc Elrich, County Councilmembers and representatives from the District 14 Delegation of the Maryland General Assembly will gather for a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony with community members at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, to celebrate the grand opening of Sprouts Farmers Market in Burtonsville. The market will serve as the anchor for the Burtonsville Crossing Shopping Center.
There also will be a store-opening ceremony at 6:45 a.m. The store will open at 7 a.m.
Sprouts Farmers Market is a significant destination for shoppers along I-95, Route 198, and Route 29.
Burtonsville residents have waited years for redevelopment in the area. Sprouts will be the first significant step and will provide healthier food options.
The project has been in the works since 2018 when County Executive Elrich engaged with EDENS, District 14 Team and Burtonsville community advocates, The collaborative discussions created exciting developments that led to the major grocer coming to the area.

Through Sprouts’ Food Rescue program, the store will donate groceries to Capital Area Food Bank, supporting local families and individuals at risk of hunger. The store will be open daily from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
