ADVANCED VOTER REGISTRATION AND PARTY AFFILIATION CHANGE DEADLINE NEARS

To vote in the 2024 Presidential Primary Election, Montgomery County citizens need to be registered voters.  If not already registered, citizens must complete and submit their voter registration application no later than Tuesday, April 23, 2024. To register to vote in Maryland, you must be a U.S. citizen, a Maryland resident, and at least 16 years of age, but cannot vote unless you are at least 18 years old by the 2024 Presidential General Election on November 5, 2024.

 

To register to vote online, your personal information must match the information about you that is on file with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). This includes your name, date of birth, driver’s license number, ID number, or Learner's Permit number, and the last 4 digits of your social security number. To register to vote, text VOTE to 77788, visit www.777vote.org, or visit the Board of Elections at 18753 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 210, Gaithersburg, MD 20879.

Individuals without a Maryland Driver’s license, Permit or MVA ID can visit www.777vote.org to download a voter registration application to mail to the Montgomery County Board of Elections, 18753 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 210, Gaithersburg, MD 20879, or call 240-777- 8500.

To vote in the party primaries, you must be registered with the Democratic or Republican parties. However, all voters, including Unaffiliated and those registered with other parties, may vote for Board of Education. Voters can affiliate Democratic or Republican by the voter registration deadline of Tuesday, April 23, 2024. You cannot change your political party affiliation during early voting or on Election Day. Same-day registration will be available during the early voting period (Thursday, May 2 through Thursday, May 9, 2024), and on primary day (Tuesday, May 14, 2024). Bring a document that proves where you live: your MVA-issued license, ID card, Learner’s Permit or change of address card, or a paycheck stub, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document showing your name and current address.
