For Immediate Release: Tuesday, April 1, 2025

Reporters are encouraged to attend this week’s virtual media briefing on Wednesday, April 2, at 12:30 p.m., where they can ask Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich questions.

The County Executive will discuss the mass layoffs that occurred this week at HHS and NIH as well as County efforts to help former federal workers and contractors impacted by recent federal layoffs and spending cuts. He will also talk about new measures to protect tenants from unfair rental practices and recognize the beginning of April as Earth Month and Autism Awareness Month.

Montgomery College President Dr. Jermaine F. Williams will join County Executive Elrich to discuss the resources and academic opportunities Montgomery College offers to impacted workers. Earlier this week, Montgomery College hosted a job fair for federal research scientists with local bio and life science companies.

The weekly media briefings offer reporters an opportunity to discuss timely and vital issues with the County Executive, key members of the County Government and community leaders invited to the Zoom call. Media members who wish to participate in the virtual media briefing should contact Tracy O'Connor at tracy.o'[email protected]. Login information will be provided after receipt of the RSVP. Login information for the media briefing remains the same from week to week. There is no need to RSVP each week unless you are new to the call.

You can view the media briefing live on the County's Facebook page and YouTube feed. Provided there are no conflicts, you can also watch the briefing on County Cable Montgomery.
