Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, along with Councilmember Evan Glass and community nonprofit organizations, will join together at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, to honor the lives of individuals who died while experiencing homelessness in 2024 and 2025.
The Community Homeless Memorial Service, hosted by the Interagency Commission on Homelessness, will take place at the Veterans Memorial Plaza, outside the Isiah Leggett Executive Office Building (LEOB), located at 101 Monroe Street, Rockville.
The solemn gathering will commemorate the lives of 56 individuals who died and will reinforce the County’s continued commitment to ensuring that every resident has a safe and stable place to call home.
According to the 2025 Point-in-Time survey published by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, 1,510 individuals were experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County on the night the annual count was conducted in January.
