ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH

The many contributions and achievements of Asian Americans and residents who trace their roots to Pacific Islands were recognized on May 2 by the Montgomery County Council in special ceremonies, led by Council President Roger Berliner, designating May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The event included a video of honorees—including Maryland State Senator Susan Lee—looking back on their family histories. There also was a panel discussion on issues that directly impact the Asian community.
