Long-Awaited New Road Option for Commuters One Step Closer…
“The Montgomery County Council is very pleased with today’s approval by the Federal Highway Administration, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Maryland Transportation Authority of the Final Environmental Impact Statement on the InterCounty Connector,” said Council President George Leventhal.
“The ICC is a critical piece in our County’s ten-year, $7 billion blueprint to relieve traffic congestion for County families and businesses – and give people more transportation options. It will shorten east-west commutes between the I-270 corridor and I-95. It will take traffic off our local neighborhood roads. And we can build it in a way that minimizes the impact on our environment. This approval is an important milestone in starting ICC construction. It’s about time.”
