Department of Liquor Control to Host Alcohol Policy Meeting with Rio Establishments

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, April 15, 2014

The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) will host a local community business meeting on Thursday, April 24 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at Joe’s Crab Shack, 221 Rio Blvd., Gaithersburg. The meeting will cover topics such as outdoor cafés, special events and responsible alcohol policies.

“Increased communication and implementation of responsible alcohol policies are key to managing successful community events and businesses,” said DLC Division Chief Kathie Durbin.

The meeting will include local licensed businesses, law enforcement and other regulatory agencies. Best practices in alcohol management will be shared and steps will be identified to keep businesses and communities safe and vibrant during the warm weather months ahead.

“The Gaithersburg Police Department wants everyone to be able to have a good time and to enjoy themselves, but to do so responsibly,” said Gaithersburg Chief of Police Mark P. Sroka. “We are looking forward to this community meeting to hear input from both businesses and residents alike.”
