Department of Liquor Control Recognized with Award from National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals (NALCP)

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 2, 2015

The Department of Liquor Control (DLC), Division Chief Kathie Durbin was presented with the National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals 2015 Best Practices Award on October 15.

NALCP specified that Durbin’s qualities such as developing relationships with licensees, leadership, commitment to education in licensure and compliance, and admiration and respect of peers are among the many reasons she was the natural choice for this year’s award.

“Kathie's commitment to developing relationships and education in the liquor industry is unparalleled,” adds Jill Valachovic, President of NALCP. “She continuously seeks to understand and support the Montgomery County licensees. Under Kathie's leadership, the department as a whole has made great strides to streamline what is inherently a cumbersome and tedious process, which allows both the agency and the licensee to be more effective and efficient. Kathie values each licensee and treats the 'Mom & Pop’ stores with the same respect and ‘can do’ approach as she does the large chains. Kathie is a role model who clearly stands out among her peers and, for that, NALCP offers its sincere gratitude and recognition.”

“Customer Service is what the hospitality industry is all about. I am proud of the work my staff and I do, and as a department we are striving to be responsive and helpful,” said Durbin.

DLC has received numerous awards and recognition for programs that have served as national models.
