Lieutenant Flipper’s Trial Play at Germantown Library

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 18, 2016

The Germantown Library will present a free play, “Lieutenant Flipper’s Trial” on Saturday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m. The play is appropriate for all ages. The library is located at 19840 Century Blvd.

The play, which first premiered at Baltimore’s prestigious Enoch Pratt Free Library, dramatizes Lieutenant Flipper’s 1881 court-martial and draws audiences into the controversy about whether Flipper was treated fairly before, during, and after the trial.

The production is directed by KenYatta and features Bob Rogers as Lieutenant Henry O. Flipper. The theme music: “Ballad of the Buffalo Soldier” is performed by Charley Waco/Buffalo Soldier.

A fast paced nineteenth century quiz show will follow the play with e-book prizes available for winners.
