Montgomery Council President Floreen to meet with media on Monday, June 13

Among the topics she will discuss are her goals for the second half of her one-year term as Council president

ROCKVILLE, Md., June 10, 2016—Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen will meet with members of the media at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13, to discuss key issues concerning the Council and its respective committees. Among the issues she will talk about are her goals for the second half of her one-year term as Council president now that the Council has approved the Fiscal Year 2017 operating budget. She also will discuss two key appointments that will be before the Council next week: one to the County Planning Board and one to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.

Council President Floreen’s meeting with members of the media will be held in the SIXTH FLOOR Conference Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.

This will be Council President Floreen’s first news conference since the Council approved the Fiscal Year 2017 operating budget on May 26.

Another issue Council President Floreen will address is the County’s evolving position on economic development. The County recently backed a financial assistance package for vaccine developer Novavax. The company will use the funding to establish a new lab near its facilities in Gaithersburg that could lead to more than 800 jobs being established in the County.

Councilmember Floreen meets with members of the media on a regular basis. Most meetings are held on Monday mornings.
