George Leventhal to be featured guest

TODAY on ‘Tuned In’ Radio America show

At 2:30 p.m. on WACA 1540 AM, Carolina Camacho of Identity

also will be a guest as topics will range from

teen pregnancy prevention to proposed minimum wage increase

 

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 22, 2016—Montgomery County Councilmember George Leventhal, who chairs the Council’s Health and Human Services Committee, and Carolina Camacho of the organization Identity will be the featured guests at 2:30 p.m. TODAY, Friday, July 22, on En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (Tuned In with the Montgomery County Council), a weekly show on Radio America (WACA 1540 AM). Among the topics they will address are programs targeted at preventing teenage pregnancies. The show also will address the proposal currently before the Council that would increase the County minimum wage to $15 per hour by the year 2020.

 

Councilmember Leventhal also will talk about this week’s meeting between the Council, the Montgomery County Board of Education and new Superintendent of Schools Jack Smith. It was the first formal meeting between the Council and Superintendent Smith.

 

Another topic of the show will be the announcement this week by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan that the State will be providing funding for a number of major transportation projects in Montgomery County, including funds to help ease congestion on Interstate 270.

 

The show will be hosted by Andrea Sarralde.

 

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered into a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one- hour show each Friday on the Washington Region’s most popular Spanish language station.

 

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and occasionally the show provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
