The Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) has announced that David Petr will become the first president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the new public/private venture. Petr joins MCEDC from the Central Florida Development Council, Inc., where he was the president and CEO. He will begin his tenure with MCEDC on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation Names David Petr

as its First President and CEO

 

Economic development veteran to take the helm on Tuesday, Sept. 6

 

Rockville, MD - August 11, 2016 - The Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) has announced that David Petr will become the first president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the new public/private venture. Petr joins MCEDC from the Central Florida Development Council, Inc., where he was the president and CEO. He will begin his tenure with MCEDC on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

 

"We are thrilled to have David as our inaugural president and CEO. He brings the right mix of talent, vision and passion for excellence to lead MCEDC," said Bob Buchanan, a partner with Buchanan Partners and chair of the MCEDC Board of Directors.

 

As the former president and CEO of the Central Florida Development Council, Petr successfully transitioned the organization from a public/private partnership to a private organization, while achieving record-setting job creation and capital investment results during his tenure. The MCEDC Board believes his unique talents in organizational transformation and team building, while running a high-performing economic development program, will align well to the immediate and long-term needs of MCEDC.

"We conducted an exhaustive, national search and have found the best candidate to lead our efforts to establish a strong economic development organization."

 

DHR International, a global executive search firm, aided MCEDC's Board of Directors with its CEO search.

 

Regional in his perspective, Petr successfully worked with key business, government and education leaders to diversify the value proposition of the Central Florida Development Council, with significant impact in the areas of business expansion, talent development, international trade, infrastructure, fundraising, advocacy, entrepreneurship and access to capital.
