Celebrate Car Free Day on September 22

Join people across the region and celebrate Car Free Day on September 22 by registering to participate at CarFreeMetroDC.org. Thousands of people throughout the greater D.C. region take the annual pledge to get around without driving their car or reducing their driving for the day - and thereby become eligible for a chance to win great prizes. 



The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's Commuter Services staff will be at a number of key locations to greet commuters that day from 6:30 to 9 a.m., including:

  • Several Ride On bus stops
  • Germantown Transit Center
  • Selected Red Line Metrorail stations: Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Grosvenor-Strathmore, Shady Grove and Silver Spring

Commuter Services will also be greeting the public at:

Takoma Park Metro Station: 6:45 a.m.Wheaton Metro Station: 7:25 a.m.Glenmont Metro Station: 8 a.m.Lakeforest Mall Transit Center: 8:45 a.m.Montgomery College Germantown: 9:20 a.m.Germantown Transit Center: 9:35 a.m.

Stop by for free giveaways and a chance to register to win prizes that include Capital Bikeshare annual memberships, commuter train passes, concert tickets and much more
