MCDOT’s Division of Highway Services is completing a number of paving and concrete projects before winter.
Full-Depth Permanent Pavement Patching
Crews excavate distressed pavement areas and fill them with hot mix asphalt to extend the life of the pavement.
Starting in early October, crews will begin patching in the Henderson Corner subdivision in Germantown. The work should take about five weeks, weather permitting, and work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Crews have begun work in Northwood Park in Silver Spring Phase II that should be completed in four to six weeks, weather permitting. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Residential Roadway Resurfacing
Crews identify areas of pavement that require full depth patching, make the patches, mill the pavement, repave with hot mix asphalt and replace roadway lane markings.
Highway crews began work in late September in the Brink Road Courts neighborhood in Gaithersburg on several of the small streets and courts. The work will take four to five weeks to complete, weather permitting. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Residential Concrete Repair and Replacement
Crews inspect neighborhoods to identify curbs and sidewalks in need of repair or replacement and ensure new work meets Americans with Disabilities standards.
Crews will begin a project in the Middlebridge subdivision in Silver Spring in October that is expected to take six to eight weeks to complete, weather permitting. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Repairs will be made along Stedwick Road in Gaithersburg in October that are expected to take four to six weeks to complete, weather permitting. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Drainage Repair
Crews began an emergency storm drain pipe replacement in September in the West Willard Road area in Poolesville. MCDOT conducted an inspection and found that the corrugated metal pipes had deteriorated and needed to be replaced with two concrete pipes. The project will take about three weeks to complete.
