Ride On to Hold Three Public Forums Regarding Proposed Service Changes on Six Routes

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, February 14, 2017

The public will have a chance to comment on a series of proposed changes to Ride On bus service at three public forums, presented by Montgomery County Department of Transportation, Division of Transit Services, to be held in March. The County will consider all comments received by March 16, 2017.

Ride On is expanding its services by proposing a new service in the Cabin Branch community as well as restructuring its current services to meet the demands of the Clarksburg community.  Ride On also is expanding its services in the Mid County region to address the needs of the residents who reside in the Connecticut Avenue Estates and Poplar Run communities.

Residents along these roads and surrounding areas are invited to share their interest in these proposed new services.  In keeping with operating procedures for service changes, Ride On conducts public forums to solicit comments from concerned parties prior to implementation of proposed changes.

Changes to the below routes are being proposed:

  • Route 31: Proposal to divert current route to serve the Poplar Run community and terminate at Glenmont station
  • Route 33: Proposal to divert current route to serve the Connecticut Avenue Estates community, with direct connection to local schools and Glenmont Station
  • Route 58: Proposal to divert current route to serve the new Multi-Agency Service Park during morning and evening peak periods
  • Route 73: (new service) Proposal to serve new Cabin Branch communities near the Clarksburg Premium Outlets and the community along W. Old Baltimore Road. Gateway Center Business Park will also be served by Ride On Route 73 (currently served by Route 75)
  • Route 75: Proposal to divert current route to serve Snowden Farm Parkway and Little Seneca Parkway with weekday trips to and from Clarksburg High School, avoiding duplication of service while connecting the most developed area of Clarksburg to Germantown and Clarksburg Premium Outlets
  • Route 79: Proposal to shift the routing to Snowden Farm Parkway, New Cut Road, and Little Seneca Parkway to better serve the densest areas of Clarksburg
