ROCKVILLE, Md., March 10, 2017—Montgomery County Councilmember Craig Rice, who chairs the Council’s Education Committee, will be the featured guest at 2:30 p.m. today on En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (Tuned In with the Montgomery County Council) on Radio America (WACA 1540 AM). The main theme of today’s show will be how President Trump’s executive orders regarding immigrants are impacting students nationwide, and particularly, in Montgomery County.
In addition to Councilmember Rice, guests on today’s show will include Maria Navarro of Montgomery County Public Schools and Diego Uriburu, director of the youth-support organization Identity, Inc. Each year, Identity assists more than 3,000 in-school and out-of-school youth and their families who live in high-poverty areas of Montgomery County and who are most at-risk for poor academic and economic life outcomes. Identity seeks to help Latino youth to reach their highest potential and work toward a successful transition into adulthood.
The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered into a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one- hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.
Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
In addition to the radio broadcast, the show can be heard via the Internet at: http://tunein.com/radio/Radio-America-1540-s6029/ .
