Montgomery County Council to hold
2 of 5 public hearings on
Fiscal Year 2018 operating budget
TODAY, Wednesday, April 5, Council will hear from
residents at 1:30 and 7 p.m. hearings
on their budget priorities
ROCKVILLE, Md., April 5, 2017—The Montgomery County Council at 1:30 and 7 p.m. TODAY, Wednesday, April 5, will hold two of the five public hearings spread over three days on Montgomery County’s Fiscal Year 2018 Operating Budget. During this week, more than 150 people are expected to express views about specific items, and the general structure, of the budget.
County Executive Ike Leggett presented his recommended operating budget to the Council on March 14. Over the next two months, the Council and its six committees will analyze the recommendations and will adopt the FY18 County budget in late May. The budget will take effect on July 1.
The Council held its first public hearing on the budget yesterday, April 4. The final two public hearings will be held at 7 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. All hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.
The hearings will be will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM). The channel can be viewed on Cable Channels 996 (high definition) and 6 (standard definition) on Comcast; Channels 1056 (HD) and 6 (SD) on RCN; and Channel 30 on Verizon.
