PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Montgomery County Council will hold public hearings starting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, on the following three bills:
Expedited Bill 12-17 would increase the amount of the length of service benefit to certain local fire and rescue department volunteers. It would require benefits to be paid through direct deposit; modify the requirements to earn credit for stand-by duty; and generally amend the length of service award program for volunteers.
Expedited Bill 13-17 would expand the property tax credit for military retirees to include a retired member of the uniformed services, the military reserves or the National Guard. It also would generally amend the law relating to property tax credits.
Expedited Bill 15-17 would replace descriptions of the Parking Lot District (PLD) boundaries with URL links to GIS maps; merge the Montgomery Hills PLD and the Silver Spring PLD; clarify application requirement for tax exemptions; delete duplicative provisions; and generally amend the law governing PLDs.
The public hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building, which is located at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville. The meeting will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM) on Cable Channels 996 (high definition) and 6 (standard definition) on Comcast; Channels 1056 (HD) and 6 (SD) on RCN; and Channel 30 on Verizon.
