ROCKVILLE, Md., May 12, 2017—Montgomery County Councilmember George Leventhal, who chairs the Council’s Health and Human Services Committee, will be the featured guest at 2:30 p.m. today on En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (Tuned In with the Montgomery County Council), the Council’s weekly show on Radio America (WACA 1540 AM). This week’s show will join in this weekend’s celebration of Mother’s Day by sharing inspiring stories of motherhood. The show also will address the challenges some local mothers face and explain the services that Montgomery County has to assist mothers and their children.
The committee chaired by Councilmember Leventhal oversees programs affecting residents in need of better healthcare. The committee also has oversight of programs that impact residents who are elderly, homeless, disabled or who suffer from mental illness. The committee also addresses programs for abused residents and for abandoned children.
Another guest on today’s show will be Lucrecia Munson, a local foster and adoptive mom, who will talk about how she has been inspired to help children who were facing lives on uncertainty. She and her husband have adopted five children of the more than 30 children they have served over the past 13 years as foster parents.
The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered into a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one- hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.
Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
