For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 16, 2017

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) invites adults and kids to its “Truck Day” on Saturday, May 20. MCDOT is celebrating National Public Works Week by hosting a display and demonstration of vehicles that are used to provide roadway-related services, such as snow plows, salt brine trucks, leaf vacuum trucks, excavators, backhoes, storm drain vacuum trucks, tree trimmer bucket trucks and others.

Staff will operate the trucks and show how they work, including loading and unloading dump trucks and raising and lowering the bucket truck bucket. Kids will be able to load and unload remote-controlled, miniature dump trucks or try out the Apprentice Truck Driver Training Course by driving a child-size, battery powered truck through a driving course.

The event will be held rain or shine from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Highway Maintenance Facility, 17000 Crabbs Branch Way, Gaithersburg.
