Over the next two weekends, weather permitting, MCDOT will close two southbound lanes of Rockville Pike (MD 355) between Woodmont Avenue and Wilson Drive, near the Medical Center Metro Station, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) at Naval Support Activity Bethesda.

The closures will occur beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 16 through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 19 and beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 23 through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 26. No lane closures will occur the weekend of June 30 through July 4.

These lane closures are part of the ongoing construction of the Crossing Project at the Medical Center Metro Station, which will establish a shallow pedestrian underpass between NIH and WRNMMC, and deep elevators on the Navy side of MD 355 to the Metrorail mezzanine.  Construction of the Crossing Project is anticipated to continue through mid-2021.

Drivers, bikers and pedestrians are urged to be cautious when traveling through this construction area.
