Leggett, County Human Rights Office Joins Hope Restored in Promoting “Thanksgiving Day Common Unity” Dinner

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, November 22, 2017

County Executive Ike Leggett will join Hope Restored Inc. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23rd, from 12 noon to 4 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center for the annual "Thanksgiving Day 'Common Unity' Dinner."

“This dinner is unique in a couple of ways,” said Jeffrey Thames Sr., Hope Restored’s president.  “One is that it's on Thanksgiving. Next, it's for everyone. Finally, it is in partnership with the County Office of Human Rights.

“The college student that couldn't get home for break...they can come. The senior citizen that may be without family... they can come. The young married couple, who just had their first child, and don't feel like cooking... they can come. The individual experiencing homelessness... they can come.”

This special free, catered meal will provide the residents of Montgomery County a place where they can come on Thanksgiving Day and share a meal with their neighbors and friends.”

“The Montgomery County Office of Human Rights has pledged with County Executive Isiah Leggett that we will be even more ‘intentional’ about our efforts to create opportunities for residents from different backgrounds to come together,” said Jim Stowe, County Human Right director. “We are pleased to join Hope Restored in this special event.”
