MCDOT to Hold Public Hearing on Establishing Residential Permit Parking in Purple Line Impact Areas in East Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 22, 2018

MCDOT will hold a public hearing to obtain input on a proposal to create several new Residential Permit Parking Areas (RPPAs) in East Silver Spring in neighborhoods within 4,000 feet of Purple Line light rail stations, including communities north of the City of Takoma Park, west of Prince George’s County, south of Indian Spring Drive and east of the existing East Silver Spring and Seven Oaks RPPAs.  Establishing the RPPAs in advance of Purple Line construction will provide residents the opportunity to mitigate impacts the project may have on neighborhood parking.

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 28 in the Silver Spring Civic Building, 1 Veterans Place, Great Hall, starting at 7 p.m.

Public comments may also be submitted in writing until 5 p.m. on March 14 to:

TrafficOps@montgomerycountymd.gov

or

Mr. Christopher Conklin

Acting Chief, Division of Traffic Engineering and Operations

100 Edison Park Drive, 4th Floor

Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878

Following receipt of all comments, the Hearing Officer will report his/her findings and make a recommendation to the County Executive, who will issue a written decision.

Additional details about the proposal, including RPPA Frequently Asked Questions in English and Spanish, a map of the proposed RPPA areas, and the RPPA guidelines Executive Regulation are available online.
