Councilmember Roger Berliner is special guest on “En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado,” today at 2:30 p.m.

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 18, 2018—Councilmember Roger Berliner is the featured guests on today’s episode of “En Sintonia con el Concejo del Condado” (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing at 2:30 p.m. on Radio America (WACA 1540AM). Councilmember Berliner represents District 1, which includes the communities of Bethesda, Cabin John, Chevy Chase, Garrett Park, Glen Echo, Friendship Heights, North Bethesda, Potomac, Poolesville, Randolph Hills, and Somerset. He is the chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee and a member of the Health and Human Services Committee.


In the first segment of the program, Councilmember Berliner will discuss the County’s fiscal year 2019 operating and capital budgets. Carolyn Camacho, Director of Wellness Centers at the nonprofit Identity Inc., will join him to discuss the impact of the budget on Latino residents and the importance of the inclusion in the County’s FY19 budget of funds which enable Identity’s community assistance programs. The Council reached preliminary agreement on the budget on Thursday, May 17.

In the second half of the program, Daniel Parra, Director of Small and Minority Business Development at the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, will join the program to share advice on maximizing the financial benefits of your tax refund.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
