ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 2, 2020—Council President Tom Hucker made the following statement on behalf of the Council on the passing of Jerold Jay Samet, who served on the East County Citizens Advisory Board for more than eight years, chaired the District 14 Democratic Club and was a respected community activist in the East County for decades.

“I and everyone at the Montgomery County Council were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our longtime friend and community advocate Jerold Samet. His passing is a tremendous loss for Montgomery County because his advocacy, knowledge and mentorship skills were second to none. Jerry was a generous, caring and optimistic man who did so much for so many in our community and was a friend to all who knew him. His legacy of service will not be forgotten but will be cherished and looked to for guidance. We send our deepest condolences to Jerry’s family during this difficult time.
