Statement from the Montgomery County Council on the passing of Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller

Rockville, Md.—Council President Tom Hucker issued the following statement on behalf of the Montgomery County Council family on the passing of Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller:
“The Montgomery County Council sends its deepest condolences to the Miller family as we mourn the loss of a political giant. We will reflect on Senate President Emeritus Mike Miller's 50 years of public service and his unyielding commitment to improving the lives of Marylanders. His leadership transcended partisan politics and throughout his time in the Maryland General Assembly he was able to bring all sides together behind a unified vision for our state.
“His belief in the power of public education, his work to improve the environment and his commitment to affordable healthcare are all key issues that county leaders worked closely with him on throughout his tenure. President Miller also always took the time to mentor generations of elected leaders. We will remember the lessons that he taught and honor his memory by continuing to bring people together through public service.”
