Council Public Hearing on the Planning Board’s Thrive Montgomery 2050 Draft Plan on June 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The Montgomery County Council will hold its first public hearing on the Planning Board’s Thrive Montgomery 2050 Draft Plan on Thursday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. The next public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 29.

The Thrive Montgomery 2050 Planning Board Draft Plan is a framework to guide planning for land use, housing, the economy, equity, transportation, parks and open space, the environment, historic resources, urban design and arts and culture over the next three decades.

The recommendations will provide guidance for future master plans, county and state capital improvement processes and other public and private initiatives that influence land use and planning in Montgomery County. Additional information is available on the Council website and at Montgomery Planning.

There is currently a waitlist to testify live for the public hearings. Community members also have the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the Council using the online testimony form on the Council's web page which can be found at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/PHSignUp.html .

The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing. Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.

The public hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM) on Xfinity channels 6 and 996, RCN channels 6 and 1056; and Fios 30. Also, the public hearings are available live via streaming through the Council website, Facebook Live (@MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil or @ConcejodelCondadodeMontgomery), or YouTube (@MoCoCouncilMD).
