Rockville, Md., Aug. 27, 2021–The Montgomery County Council issued the following statement about yesterday's attack at Kabul airport in Afghanistan:
“The Council is enraged and heartbroken by the heinous attack on U.S. service members and Afghan residents, who were fleeing for their safety, at Kabul airport. We are praying for those who were murdered in this ambush and their grief-stricken families as well as those who were wounded by suicide bombers and gunmen.
“We are also thinking about all of Montgomery County's Gold Star families and their loved ones who have died protecting and serving our nation. We are forever grateful for their service and sacrifice.
“Montgomery County resources are available to assist members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and impacted residents during this difficult time. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please reach out."
