ROCKVILLE, Md., June 1, 2023—The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Carmen Hernández, senior network builder at Impact Silver Spring; Óscar Méndez, program manager with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) and Robert Goldman, president and CEO at Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP). The show will air tomorrow, June 2 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM) and is streamed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.

This week’s show will begin with information on the Seventh Annual Entrepreneurs Fair that will be hosted in the heart of Wheaton at the United Methodist Church. The event will take place on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live entertainment, food, face painting for kids, and beautiful hand-made jewelry, piñatas and a great variety of products from local entrepreneurs.

Summer festivities have officially kicked off, and with the festivities comes a need to celebrate responsibly. Mr. Méndez, will share important safety recommendations that must be followed when grilling, swimming or simply gathering with friends and families. Some of the safety guidelines include always supervising a barbecue grill when in use and making sure that guests and pets keep a safe distance away from the cooking area. It is also important to keep the grill out in the open and away from the house, deck, tree branches or anything that could catch fire.

The show will conclude with a discussion on the groundbreaking at The Forest Glen Apartments Community. Mr. Goldman, president and CEO at MHP, will share all the details of MHP’s largest project to date with a total investment of more than $100 million. According to Goldman, this project will enhance the community and almost triple its previous number of affordable homes in Montgomery County.

The Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
