Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Business Center will show their support of the small businesses that are the fabric of the area’s local business community by leading a “Small Business Saturday” tour of retailers on Saturday, Nov. 25.

The days following Thanksgiving are traditionally among the busiest for retailers as the public prepares for the gift giving season. Purchasing gifts through small businesses helps boost the Montgomery County economy because a vast majority of registered businesses have fewer than 50 employees.

The Montgomery County Business Center was created by County Executive Elrich to make it easier for small business to start and grow. This year’s schedule was developed through the Business Center’s proactive outreach to our local small businesses.

County Executive Elrich’s planned visits to local businesses on Saturday, Nov. 25, will begin at 10 a.m. and will include:

  • Megamart Gaithersburg, 33 Dalamar St., Gaithersburg
  • Kharis Lavender Fields, 20910 Merle Drive, Gaithersburg
  • Twin Valley Distillers, 1029 E. Gude Drive, Suite 105, Rockville
  • Omega3 Nutrition,1313 E Gude Drive, Rockville
  • Retail Business Incubator, Women’s Business Center, Unit 36D Maryland Avenue, Rockville

At each stop County Executive Elrich will meet with business owners and employees to present certificates of appreciation on behalf of Montgomery County. At the Women’s Business Center, at least four business owners will meet with the County Executive and briefly discuss their experience launching and running their businesses in the County.

“Over the past 25 years, two-thirds of the new jobs added to our national economy were created by small businesses,” said County Executive Elrich. “Making sure our County’s smaller companies succeed is an economic development priority and the reason why I created our new Business Center to assist them. ‘Small Business Saturday’ allows us to highlight this critical sector of our economy and also create productive relationships between these establishments and the resources we can provide for them. I look forward to touring the County to visit our local stores with our Business Center team. I encourage all residents to ‘Shop Local’ throughout the holiday season. It is better for our environment, equity and economy.”

County Executive Elrich has participated in Small Business Saturday tours the last several years, with the coordination of the Business Center staff.
