Due to the closure and rebuilding of the Spring Street bridge in Silver Spring, Ride On routes 1, 5, 11, 18, and 28 have experienced detours that began on Friday, June 7, and will run until January 2025. To assist those impacted by the bridge closure, a free shuttle is providing service between Second Avenue and the Silver Spring Transit Center every 30 minutes in 2 shifts: midday (10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.) and evening (7:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.). 

Information about the bus detours due to the temporary bridge closure can be found below. 

 

Stop 25848 & 25850 Alternate Routes: 

  • Ride On Route 4 - serves these stops 

  • Metrobus Q & Y - nearby stops 2000204 & 2001247 on Georgia Avenue  

Stop 25852 Alternate Routes: 

Stop 25848, 25850, 25816, 25817, and 14791 Alternate Routes: 

  • Ride On Route 4 - serves these stops 

  • Metrobus Q & Y - nearby stops 2000204 & 2001247 on Georgia Avenue  

Stop 25852 and 25814 Alternate Routes: 

All bus and rail routes at Silver Spring Transit Center 

Note: Route 11 detour does not miss any regularly scheduled stops or make any additional stops along the detour route.  

Stop 17213 & 17214 Alternate Routes 

  • Ride On Route 4 - serves 2nd Avenue 

  • Metrobus Q & Y - nearby stops 2000204 & 2001247 on Georgia Avenue  

Note: Route 28 detour does not miss any regularly scheduled stops or make any additional stops along the detour route. 

Ride On bus fare is only $1 and monthly passes are $22.50 using SmarTrip, cash, or tokens. Seniors age 65 or older, persons with disabilities and youth ages 18 and under all ride free using specialized SmarTrip cards. 

The Ride On Trip Planner app is a free regional public transportation planner that will find your fastest route.
