In-Person Public Information Workshop on the Piney Branch Purple Line Station Sidewalk proposal in Silver Spring to be Held on Thursday, Feb. 27

On Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold an in-person public information workshop to discuss the proposed Piney Branch Purple Line Station sidewalk in Silver Spring. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions. The in-person public workshop will be held in the Cafeteria or All-Purpose Room of Rolling Terrace Elementary School located at 705 Bayfield Street in Takoma Park. While the Purple Line is a state, Maryland Department of Transportation project, MCDOT is building the sidewalk in this area. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions on the proposed sidewalk plans. The proposal provides for the installation of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks on the following roadways:

• The west side of Glenville Road from 8900 Glenville Road to 9002 Glenville Road.
• The north side of Glenville Road from University Boulevard to 8901 Glenville Road.
• The northwest side of Langley Drive from 8900 Glenville Road to 712 Langley Drive.
• The east side of Quebec Street from the existing sidewalk to Tahona Drive.
• The north side of Quebec Street from Tahona Drive to existing sidewalk.
• The north side of Tahona Drive from Quebec Street to existing sidewalk.
• The west side of Tahona Drive from Quebec Street to Osage Street.
• The north side of Osage Street from Tahona Drive to Chickasaw Drive.
• The west side of Barron Court from Barron Street to Long Branch Trail.
• The south side of Gilbert Street from the existing sidewalk to University Boulevard.

At the public workshop, MCDOT will present project details, costs, and the project schedule. Staff will obtain public comments and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.

The public is encouraged to visit the project website and provide feedback via the online comment form or via email to the Sidewalk Program Planning Specialist, Lori Main at [email protected]. Written comments carry the same weight as oral comments expressed at the meeting. All information provided will become a matter of public record.
