For Immediate Release: Tuesday, February 25, 2025
On Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a hybrid (in-person and online) public information meeting to discuss the proposed Washington Grove Connector Trail – Crabbs Branch Extension project in Washington Grove. The in-person meeting will be held at McCathran Hall, 300 Grove Avenue in Washington Grove, and on Zoom. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.
The Washington Grove Connector Trail project will result in a shared-use path from the terminus of Brown Street in Washington Grove to the terminus of Crabbs Branch Way. The proposed 850-foot long, 10-foot-wide trail will provide a paved connection for pedestrian and bicycle users from Washington Grove to destinations and transit hubs such as the Shady Grove Metro station. This important connection is identified in the 2006 Shady Grove Sector Plan and the 2021 Shady Grove Sector Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment.
At the public meeting, MCDOT will present project details, costs and the project schedule. MCDOT will also obtain public comments and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.
To attend the meeting virtually, please register online. After registering, the Zoom platform will send registrants an email containing the Zoom link and passcode needed to join the virtual meeting.
The public is encouraged to visit the project website and provide feedback via the online comment form or via email to the Project Manager, Jean Kapusnick at [email protected]. Written comments carry the same weight as oral comments expressed at the meeting. All information provided will become a matter of public record.
Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five business days advance notice. To request interpreter services, email Lori Main at [email protected] or call 240-777-7271 no later than Wednesday, Feb. 26.
