The shelter is currently full of dogs looking for good homes and adopters are urgently needed. If you have been thinking about adding a pet to your family, now is the time. The adoption process is simple and free. Visit the MCASAC website for details on the adoption process.

The Animal Services and Adoption Center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood. The Center is open seven days a week. Visit the Center’s website for a complete list of hours.

Residents can view adoptable animals here or visit the facility during open hours. Adoptions are first-come, first-served and processed the same day. Residents should be ready to take their new pet home by bringing a leash and collar.

Adoption frees are sponsored by Friends of Montgomery County Animals. 

About the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center: 

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), operated by the Office of Animal Services, provides high-standard sheltering and care to homeless, abused and neglected animals. It is the County’s only open-admission, municipal shelter. Through adoptions, education, outreach and more, MCASAC serves as a critical community resource to promote and advocate for responsible pet care. Animal Services Officers are available seven days a week to investigate complaints and respond to animal emergencies 24 hours a day.
