For Immediate Release: Wednesday, July 11, 2012

The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) will partner with the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) to host a 2012 sociable City Leadership Summit on Thursday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place. The two-day summit will bring together experts and practitioners to review best practices to aid in planning, managing and measuring dining and entertainment districts.

Following opening remarks on Thursday by County Executive Isiah Leggett and DLC Director George Griffin, the conference will focus on community partnerships to promote responsible hospitality.

“Creating and maintaining a hospitality zone that contributes to the community can be challenging,” said Kathie Durbin, DLC division chief of Licensing, Regulation and Education. “And, maintaining a safe, vibrant nightlife can be even more challenging,”
