Statement From Chief Marcus Jones Regarding the Israel - Hamas War

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 13, 2023

As the war between Israel and Hamas intensifies, the Montgomery County Department of Police wants to assure our residents that MCPD is actively monitoring developments internationally and nationally and is dedicated to taking proactive measures to ensure the security and well-being of all members of our community.  We remain in close contact with our federal, state, local, and private security partners and are sharing information as appropriate.

We recognize the understandable concern within our Jewish and Muslim communities and are committed to maintaining open lines of communication with area faith leaders and providing updates as the situation evolves.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased police presence around religious institutions located within the county and encourage the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911.

 

Your cooperation is essential in helping us maintain a safe environment for all. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers valuable information on reporting suspicious activity.

 

As of now, there are no known or credible threats in Montgomery County. MCPD is actively monitoring the situation and is committed to taking proactive measures to ensure the security and well-being of all our residents. We remain dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive community for everyone.
