Detectives Investigate Shell Gas Station Armed Robbery; Video of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an armed robbery of a Shell gas station that occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the 10200 block of Westlake Drive in Bethesda. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

 

At approximately 11:33 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of an armed robbery.

 

The investigation by detectives has revealed that the male suspect entered the convenience store to use the restroom. A short time later, the suspect approached the employee who was working behind the counter and displayed a knife. The suspect then grabbed merchandise from behind the counter, placed it inside his backpack and left the scene.

 

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained a description of the suspect.

 

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 26- years-old, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, with a medium build and goatee, wearing a black/camouflage cap, a black t-shirt, black pants, black tennis shoes and carrying a black/camouflage backpack.
