Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Giant Food store in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road in Germantown. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.
At approximately 4:28 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary.
The investigation has revealed that three unknown suspects forced entry into the store by driving a vehicle in reverse through the main entrance of the store, causing significant damage. The suspects then got out of the vehicle and tried to open an ATM. The suspects then drove the vehicle inside the store and struck the ATM several times in an attempt to open it and remove the cash. The suspects drove away in the vehicle without taking any money from the ATM or property from the store. When the truck became disabled, the suspects got out of the truck, leaving it in the store parking lot.
Detectives have reviewed the surveillance footage and obtained a description of the suspects and their vehicle.
The suspects are described as three unknown race males wearing dark clothing. The suspects’ vehicle is described as green Dodge Ram 1500.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the Dodge had been stolen in Germantown.
