Detectives Investigate Seek Lane Homicide

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 3, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the death of an 18-year-old male from Silver Spring.

 

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 9:46 p.m., 3rd District Officers responded to the area of Barron Street and Domer Avenue, for a report of a shooting.

 

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the playground area of Seek Lane Park. The victim, later identified as Christian Ortiz, was found with an apparent gunshot wound. Ortiz was pronounced dead on the scene, despite attempted life-saving measures from officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services

 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
