Media Advisory: Montgomery County Police to Hold Traffic Safety Initiative News Conference

WHEN:   Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 9:45 a.m.

  

WHERE: Veterans Park located on Dodge Street between Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Road in                        Rockville

 

Throughout the entire day, officers from Montgomery County Police – Traffic Operations Division along with officers from Maryland State Police, Rockville City Police, Chevy Chase Village Police and Gaithersburg Police will be conducting a traffic safety initiative that focuses on reducing the number of personal injury and fatal collisions during the holiday season in Montgomery County.


Officers will also be engaging in proactive enforcement on the following traffic violations on Route 355 from the DC line (Western Avenue) all the way to the Frederick County line (Route 109):


  • Aggressive Driving
  • Pedestrian Safety
  • Distracted Driving
  • Seatbelt Safety
  • Impaired Driving

This initiative will incorporate two pedestrian safety details, where officers will educate community members about pedestrian safety. As we move into the nighttime hours, Montgomery County Police - Holiday Alcohol Task Force, comprised of officers from MCPD and allied agencies, will begin high visibility impaired driving enforcement.
