Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 36-year-old Terron Christopher Matasaran with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of a 7-month-old infant.

On Monday, September 23, 2024, at approximately 11:05 a.m., officers from the 3rd District, along with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, responded to the 11600 block of Stewart Lane for the report of an unresponsive baby boy.

Matasaran, a friend of the family who had been babysitting the child, reported that the infant had allegedly fallen. He called the child’s mother, who was at work, and she returned home to find her baby unresponsive. The mother called 9-1-1 and began CPR until first responders arrived. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, homicide detectives requested and obtained a warrant for Matasaran’s arrest.

On March 4, officers from the Montgomery County Police Task Force, along with the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Matasaran at his place of employment in Bladensburg.
