2025 Summer Traffic Task Force Enforcement – First Two Weeks

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 5, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD – Members of the Montgomery County Department of Police Summer Traffic Task Force, along with partnering agencies, are devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this summer.

This new initiative mirrors similar operations conducted during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The Summer Traffic Task Force is a coordinated enforcement effort that runs through the end of July and focuses on periods historically associated with increased impaired driving, including graduation events, prom season, and summer holidays.

Since the effort began on May 21, 2025, officers have conducted 202 traffic stops, resulting in 291 citations issued, 289 warnings given, and 33 DUI arrests.

**It should be noted that the above arrests include only those arrests made by task force officers and do not include the additional arrests made by patrol officers in the performance of their duties. Therefore, the overall number of DUI arrests made by officers during this period is higher.

Partnering agencies:

Maryland State Police Spider Team, Maryland State Police Rockville Barracks, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Rockville City Police, Maryland National Capital Park Police – Montgomery County, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
