751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville
As prepared
Good morning!
I am very happy to be here to help cut the ribbon on this newly expanded space for Interfaith Works’ Clothing Center.
I had the opportunity to visit here recently on an informal tour, and I was amazed at the new space.
Any of you who have visited the Clothing Center over the years know that the Center was small and challenging for both customers and volunteers.
By moving to the second floor, Interfaith Works has been able to increase the space for the Clothing Center and add many new services.
Now, when a customer comes in to choose clothing, they will also be able to take classes on topics such as conversational English, job-readiness and financial literacy.
A computer lab will be available to aid in job searching.
More than just a place to pick up clothes donated by community members, it is truly a place that will show where the heart of our community is.
This center is about more than just giving away clothes to families and individuals. It is about helping them gain the tools to assist them in moving themselves to a better financial position … it’s about “teaching people to fish.”
Here at Interfaith Works, you should know that everything that comes in the donation door goes back out the door to individuals and families right here.
So, for those of you thinking about donating or wondering if it will make a difference, let me tell you, you can see the benefit of your donation and gain the immediate return on investment that comes from knowing you helped fellow members of our community.
Thank you!
