Happy New Year! Thank you for joining us today. I am pleased to be here today to celebrate this Lunar New Year – the year of the dog - with all of you.
This is the second year we are hosting this event. After last year's success, we have expanded from a celebration of the Chinese New Year to a Lunar New Year celebration so that we could include our friends from Korea and Vietnam.
This is a great way to demonstrate that the Department of Recreation is not just about sports. Our rec centers are also community hubs that bring people of all backgrounds together.
Today, we get to share in and learn about the rich, Asian culture in the forms of dance, music, exercise and more! I still remember the performances from last year – full of beautiful colors and music.
I want to thank the recreation center’s staff and advisory board for putting this celebration together.
I hope you all enjoy your evening and have a happy and healthy new year!
