As prepared

Good afternoon!  It is a tremendous honor and a distinct pleasure to be here today to congratulate each of you for accomplishing a milestone in what I hope is a long, productive, and distinguished career with the Montgomery County Police Department.

Your class is a unique mixture of individuals, with a very high percentage of candidates finishing the course and graduating.

Each of you represents an important element of the police force.

You are becoming part of what is a nationally recognized leader in the delivery of highly effective public safety.

As County Executive, I have made providing excellent public safety services one of my top priorities.

I can do that because I am confident that this group, along with the others whose ranks you are joining, has the training and judgment to meet and exceed the expectations of those of us who live and work in Montgomery County.

I see the work of the police force every day; and am always proud of what you do.

As important as your professional skills in fighting crime, and protecting and saving lives are, this job requires something more.

Our Montgomery County police department has been highly successful in the crucial practice of building and maintaining the trust and confidence of our communities.

It is your responsibility, as our newest generation of police officers, to continue and enhance this trust.  I know you will do so.

We sincerely appreciate your dedication to meeting the challenges of protecting all those who live, work and visit this busy and expanding County we all call home.

Welcome aboard!
