Montgomery County Government continues to achieve pay equity for a third year in a row. The FY23 pay equity analysis conducted by the Office of Human Resources found virtually no pay gap between male and female County employees. Since FY21, the median female County employee earns $1.02 for every $1.00 their male counterpart earns. This achievement is a result of several practices implemented by the County over the past four fiscal years to maintain gender pay equity, such as:
- Not requesting salary history from job applicants during the recruitment and selection process.
- Conducting pay equity analyses at the time of hire, internal salary equity reviews, and market compensation studies for specific job classes.
- Ensuring transparency in salary schedules and pay ranges for job classes, based on experience, education, and performance factors; and making this information publicly available to current and prospective employees.
The County’s pay program ensures equity at a level that continues to outpace gender pay gaps in the local, state, and national labor markets. The County remains committed to enhancing salary-setting policies and practices to maintain gender pay equity for years to come.
